The temperature in Orlando may have been in the 40’s this past Saturday night, but it was a completely different story inside the House of Blues. Canadian rock band Marianas Trench cranked up the heat and burned up the stage for a packed house of fans of all ages.

The band hit the stage with an excitement and enthusiasm that remained in-tact throughout the entire show. Front man Josh Ramsay was energetic, mesmerizing, and he commanded the stage with every move. At various points throughout the show Ramsay made his way off the stage to interact with the fans at eye level. In between songs he joked around with the crowd and used every opportunity to make it abundantly clear how much the band appreciated their fans.  The performance of the band, with the assist of a great light show and an ever-changing video wall, made for a memorable experience.

While performing the first few songs of the night, Josh Ramsay wore a crop top that he announced was “made for him by a fan” and given to him that day. During their performance of “One Love” the rear video wall on the stage displayed photos of some of their fans. It was evident by the deafening screams and the fact the audience sang along to almost every song, the crowd appreciated the band very much.

Marianas Trench played thirteen songs before taking a moment to recharge in preparation of giving the fans just a little bit more with an encore. Josh Ramsay came out alone at first to chat with the crowd and to again share how much the band appreciated them. He then engaged the audience to help in singing an acoustic version of their song “Good To You”– which they excitedly belted out. At the end of the performance, the band hung around to greet fans, shake hands, and take photos.

If this is the first time you are hearing of Marianas Trench, you should definitely check them out further. They formed in 2001 in Vancouver, British Columbia and have earned a great deal of success in Canada. They have released four full-length studio albums and have either won or been nominated for several Canadian music awards.  Aside from the writing he does for the band, Josh Ramsay earned himself a Grammy nomination for co-writing the Carly Rae Jepsen hit, “Call Me Maybe”.

Since their first show in the U.S. in 2010, Marianas Trench has been building momentum as well as a solid U.S. fan base. Currently the band is in the middle of “The Hey You Guys!” Tour promoting their latest album Astoria, which was released in November in 2015. The tour runs through February 14, so if they are coming your way you should try to head out to the show.
