Venue: The Haven, Winter Park–May 14, 2016–Mushroomhead, Madame Mayhem, and Sumo Cyco
In rock news, mayhem descended upon Orlando Saturday night, causing sheer pandemonium among all the metal fans that stepped into The Haven. Madame Mayhem, who had opened for metal goddess Doro Pesch just two months prior, was back opening for metal powerhouse Mushroomhead before a sold out crowd.
The New York City born and bred Mayhem is touring with Mushroomhead, to support critically-acclaimed album Now You Know, which was released in October 2015. The album includes collaboration with some real rock heavyweights in Billy Sheehan [Mr. Big, Winery Dogs] and Cory Lowery [Saint Asonia, Stuck Mojo] who co-wrote the songs; as well as Ray Luzier [KoRn, KXM,] Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal [Guns N’ Roses], and Russ Parrish [“Satchel” from Steel Panther].
The sold out Orlando crowd was already familiar with Mayhem and the dynamic vocals she brings to a live performance. With her came a revamped band that plays like there’s no tomorrow. Madame Mayhem brought the crowd energy to an explosive level with a short but intense setlist. Her vocal range is indeed as captivating as her stage presence is engaging with fans. People are beginning to find out that Mayhem can be a beautiful thing.
Another treat for the evening was Canadian punk metal band Sumo Cyco, which continued the high energy from Madame Mayhem’s performance. Frontwoman Skye Sweetnam rocked the crowd into a frenzy with their brand of alternative punk-metal music.
