Perth Rock trio Ragdoll formed back in 2011, Friday Night at Boston was the debut of their latest album release ‘Back To Zero’

The evening kicked off with Troy Nababan and his band fitting, as Troy has been the bands producer since the very start, that’s 3 EP’s and 2 Album’s in 5 years. Maverick played an amazing and solid set followed by Melbourne visitor to our state Dellacoma Rio & the Dark Horses, Dell is every bit the rock showman. The set performed with Ragdoll’s Leon on guitar and Troy Nababan on bass after just one rehearsal the day before. The measure of true musicianship is when the collaboration of originals and covers can sound so good after only one jam.

Ragdoll performed a massive set to their Perth following, starting the set with arguably their most well known track ‘All I want’

Cam Barratt on Drums, Leon Todd guitars & backing vocals, and Ryan Rafferty on bass and main vocals. They work really hard during their performance to connect with the audience and create fun atmosphere. The band paid extra attention to the sound and lighting at Boston, and it was appreciated. What a difference it made to their event and the environment, the entire show gave a better audio and visual experience to everyone, demonstrating that bands can’t always rely on the venue.

The crowd was made up of existing fans and it felt like an intimate showcase, the new material is catchy and familiar. Melodic guitar driven tunes that please your ears from the first spin.

The guys have just returned from their 5th appearance at the annual US Rock event Rocklahoma where they played the American fans their new material, travelling back to Perth they did a couple of shows in Geelong and Melbourne as a warm up for the home gigs. Next stop for the band is their debut tour throughout Europe in September.

The inspiration behind the new album has been a long time coming, the guys looked into those big existential questions regarding Life, Death & Love. They use what affects their lives from topical pop culture. This is the ever-evolving inspiration pool that creative musicians pull from all the time, but in Leon’s case this album has allowed for the first time his musical heritage to come full circle. Check out the track “Kungfoolery’ on the new album featuring Leon’s Dad on additional guitar.
