The Gasparilla Music Festival presented by Frontier (GMF) has released a preview of several acts that will be performing at the 6th annual Gasparilla Music Festival taking place March 11-12, 2017 in downtown Tampa. Cage the Elephant will be performing Saturday night March 11 on the Sykes Stage at Curtis Hixon Park. More bands will be announced in the coming weeks and a final lineup will be released in January.
Formed in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and long celebrated as one of the most explosive live bands in the world, Cage the Elephant has also experienced incredible success on the radio with an astounding seven #1 singles on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart in the 2010s. GMF will be their first show in Tampa Bay Area in over two years.
“We are very excited to have Cage the Elephant bring their incredible live act and energy to downtown Tampa,” said David Cox, GMF’s Executive Director.
In 2016, GMF featured 55 acts across 5 stages along the Riverwalk in downtown Tampa. Each year the festival includes an eclectic mix of music styles including rock, reggae, R&B, country, hip hop, gospel, bluegrass, electronic and latin. Several bands scheduled for the 2017 festival that were previewed this week represent those diverse styles including Nashville based Moon Taxi, UK based The New Mastersounds, and New Orleans based Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Shamarr Allen & the Underdawgs.

I grew up in a household full of rock music, studied journalism in college, and then became a scientist.Although my science career has served me well, music has always played a major role in my life. I grew up reading "Creem" magazine; I play several musical instruments as a "hobby";and it seems a camera has always been in my hand. Now, I am combining what I love the most--music and photography--serving as editor of Rock At Night. My motto: life is short...no regrets. Chyrisse
