I am so looking forward to attending the Sunshine Music & Blues Festival at St. Petersburg, Vinoy Park on January 14th. Last year the weather was perfect–sunny and in the 70s. It was a wonderful way to start off the New Year!
The Tedeschi-Trucks Band, husband and wife dynamo duo, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, will be hosting the festival which is featuring a star-studded line-up such as Bruce Hornsby, Mavis Staples, Dave Mason, and more! Apparently they are re-playing the festival the next day (January 15th) at the Mizner Park Ampthitheatre in Boca Raton. So, if you are really hardcore, truck across Alligator Alley to catch their second Florida event.
Since Tedeschi -Trucks live around Jacksonville, we are fortunate to have them at “home” in January. In the Spring they are touring Europe.
As always, Tedeschi-Trucks will have their top notch blues band with quite a horn section and the back-up singers alone can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any headliner themselves. Top shelf voices! I have seen them at the Wanee Festival in Live Oak was well as Ruth Eckerd Hall in the past. I am always wowed by Tedeschi’s perfect raspy and soulful voice as well as Trucks impeccable guitar licks.
In the past I’ve seen ticket discounts through Groupon and Living Social. Let’s hope they do it again this year!

I grew up in a household full of rock music, studied journalism in college, and then became a scientist.Although my science career has served me well, music has always played a major role in my life. I grew up reading "Creem" magazine; I play several musical instruments as a "hobby";and it seems a camera has always been in my hand. Now, I am combining what I love the most--music and photography--serving as editor of Rock At Night. My motto: life is short...no regrets. Chyrisse
