Hands Off Gretel’s ‘Burn the Beauty’ Tour kills it at The Monarch in Camden

Hands Off Gretel

By Andras Paul, Rock At Night London Correspondent

Venue: The Monarch, Camden, London-December 7, 2016

Rock at Night did Hands Off Gretel again, who grew so much since last time! The style got just stronger and much more confident then ever before. Behind the mask is still there the riotgrrrl talent having a strong presence on stage, grunging with empowering originality.

Huge mass crowd at The Monarch was waiting for the iconic Hands Off Gretel to start. The same huge mass crowd did hardly let bassist up on the stage protecting strongly their places at the front row. Oh sorry, said the huge mass crowd and let the band on stage at last!

“Go f*ckin’ mental!” that’s how it started and went up sharply. I especially enjoyed the gritty voice telling stories which sounded real to the craving ear. The rhythm and energy is irreplaceable, hope they don’t get cocky reading this. The fact is the huge mass crowd loved Hands Off Gretel a lot! And Lauren Tate (main voice/guitar) might have felt about that something saying “You know the rest of the world is so mean compared to you!” and “If they’re not in this room right now they don’t even count!” That sounds sheer punk. All that followed by a grabbing smile. Yeah! The short subjoints between songs just fired up the whole performance.

The band gave in their best to make the show count. And it did count. The gig was a massive hit. Supposed to last around half an hour but it appears to be doubled till the end with the multiple encore.

If you never seen them go do it until you can. And the merch around made by neat-handed frontess is admirable. I bought a T-shirt , oh yes, me a humble part of the huge mass crowd, cause it looks great!
