Dans Dans is a bass-drums-guitar-trio from Belgium. They play instrumental music with cinematic character. Dans Dans describes it as jazz without stuffiness, rock without blinkers and avant-garde without pretentiousness. The music appeals to those who like guitarists like John Scofield and Marc Ribot–and sometimes melodic lines take you into the world of Ennio Morricone.
Dans Dans is playing in jazz venues as well as at music festivals. Apparently the band does not appeal to just a niche market, but also is beginning to garner a broader audience. The strength of the band is they are showing real thrilling “movies” in an unknown language we nevertheless appear to understand.
Dans Dans released their fourth album Sand in 2016, which received 4 out of 5 ratings in the reviews. The band is touring through Europe and RAN saw the band perform recently at the ‘Here Comes The Summer’, a music festival at the isle Vlieland, The Netherlands.
Dans Dans is: Bert Dockx (guitar & cassette player); Frederic Lyenn Jacques (bass & keys & electronics); Steven Cassiers (drums, percussion & electronics).
