Bad Touch’s new forthcoming album “Truth Be Told” – will be released by Bad Touch Records on Friday, December 2nd. Rock At Night was fortunate to land a pre-release copy for review and you can read about it HERE. Really , the CD or album will appeal to all that love the classic Southern rock sound. The sound engineering is top notch, and no wonder, the engineer/co-producer is  Chris Kimsey (Sticky Fingers, Some Girls, Steel Wheels, Emotional Rescue).

Rock At Night recently spoke with Stevie Westwood, songwriter and vocals, about the five-piece band Bad Touch and their new album Truth Be Told. The band, which was formed in 2009, is definitely influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Crowes, and the Kentucky Headhunters, whom Westwood said “we got to know them quite well and they have influenced us.”

Westwood noted, “We released our first album last year…..We like to go out and play before we spent money for recording an album. We ‘re real excited about this one. It feels more mature.”

Bad Touch’s sound evolved organically as the members jammed and brought other influences to the table, like Led Zeppelin. The Led Zeppelin sound is really prevalent in the song on the album “Waiting For This”, which features Jimmy Page power chords and what I like to call a “good and nasty” sound.

Another song that intrigued me is “The Mountain” since it has an environmentalist message. Westwood said, “I wanted to show something that is not just rock, drinking, and women.” About the new single “99%”, which is really rocking with a cute message, he noted “It is feel good rock. I’m not a brooding, moody person. I am a happy-go-lucky chap.“

Rock At Night mentioned the songs on the new album deal with the theme of relationships, and “One More Night” (one of my favorites on the album) exemplifies this. Westwood described the meaning of the song saying,  “It’s about being thankful for a time….looking back. Trying to maintain optimism and think about the good times… It’s about questioning….”

When asked what his favorite songs are on the album, Westwood noted, “ I really like ‘Take Your Time’ and ‘One More Night’…I do love them, I am really chuffed with all of them.”

During the interview, Westwood described his dedication to the band and all the sacrifices one makes to “make it big.” Like a lot of musicians nowadays, he has a day job, but describes the feeling of being on stage, “I have had 100 people singing the songs I wrote and you can’t trade that for the world….”
