Grant Peeples and the Peeples Republik will be back home in Florida in November to promote their latest CD “Punishing the Myth.” Peeples, who spent his formative years in Tallahassee, lived in Nicaragua for 11 years later in life, and eventually circled his way home to Florida. All of his life experiences and mileage are the foundation of his politically-tinged and socially-conscious music. A self-described “treehugger with a gun” or “Leftneck”, Peeple’s music cannot be pigeon-holed. Some may describe it as alt-country, folk, or blues, but definitely his songwriting is deep, raw, and real (“My People Come From Dirt”). Do not expect downer music because Peeples throws in humor (“Sunshine State) while describing his beloved home state or when he pays homage to his lesbian aunt (“Aunt Lou”).
