I am so looking forward to attending the Sunshine Music & Blues Festival at St. Petersburg, Vinoy Park on January 17th. I just hope since its in January that we actually have Sunshine and we’re not wearing fur coats. The Tedeschi-Trucks Band, husband and wife dynamo duo, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, will be hosting the festival which is featuring a star-studded line-up such as Chris Robinson & Brotherhood, Grace Potter, Dickey Betts & The Great Southern, Los Lobos, Aimee Mann & Ted Leo, and more! Apparently they are re-playing the festival the next day at the Mizner Park Ampthitheatre in Boca Raton. So, if you are really hardcore, truck across Alligator Alley to catch their second Florida event.
Since Tedeschi -Trucks live around Jacksonville, we fortunate to have them at “home” since they will be in California, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts this Fall. I notice they visit places that have friends or family.
As always, Tedeschi-Trucks will have their top notch blues band with quite a horn section and the back-up singers alone can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with any headliner themselves. Top shelf voices! I have seen them at the Wanee Festival in Live Oak was well as Ruth Eckerd Hall in the past. I am always wowed by Tedeschi’s perfect raspy and soulful voice as well as Trucks impeccable guitar licks.
I noticed recently that either Groupon or Living Social was running a special on the tickets. Let’s hope they do it again as the festival approaches. Also, stay tuned for information on the Wanee Festival (April 16th-18th).
