Peter Hook & The Light are taking to the United States for their fifth tour, this time touring the Southern States, playing new venues and cities for the first ever time, performing Joy Division’s “Unknown Pleasures” and “Closer” in full and material from the band 1978 to 1980.

Aside from  a few special concerts such as The Roxy Los Angeles November 2014 which sold out very quickly, The Light have not performed the Joy Division albums in full on tour in the United States since 2011 so the tour marks a special opportunity for fans to experience the albums live for the first time, and catch Hooky and his band on new adventures.

The Light also open for themselves performing a specially selected set of New Order material at all dates.

The tour kicks off on Friday 17th April in Grand Central, Miami before dates across the state that weekend in St Petersburg and Orlando. The first full week of the tour starts with Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia, before the band’s stop in New Orleans for the first time. They debut in Dallas at The Granada Theatre on Friday 24th April, then an appearance at the Middle Of The Map festival, Kansas City on the Saturday of that weekend.

The final week of the tour, late April, early May, commences Monday 27th April at Bogarts in Cincinatti, Ohio with stops in Nashville, Louisville, Carrboro, before finishing up at The Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina, Saturday 2nd May.

Playing the albums sequentially and in track order, both Martin Hannett produced LPs are considered seminal, much loved classics and their influence remains pervasive today, both with fans and for the many bands, influenced by and who have taken on the template of Joy Division’s sound in the modern era.

Unknown Pleasures is considered one of the most stunning debut albums ever released while on  Closer Hannett’s incandescent production permeates the record alongside a band that had grown much in confidence approaching their second album.

Both albums have come to yield many landmark tracks, Unknown Pleasures with “Disorder” “Insight”, “New Dawn Fades”, and “She’s Lost Control” while Closer, considered “a start to finish masterpiece” by Pitchfork Media counts “Atrocity Exhibition”, “Heart And Soul” and “Twenty Four Hours” amongst its many highlights.

With each album in full during the concert, The Light also turn to Hooky’s early repertoire to perform many other Warsaw and Joy Division tracks, some of which have never been played live previously apart from by The Light.

On Peter Hook And The Light Live

“Peter Hook & The Light have developed into a well-oiled machine that – whisper it – actually deliver these songs better than the current line-up of New Order….they’ve become an impressive tour de force more than worthy of associating themselves with arguably two of the finest back catalogues in rock and roll history.”  Drowned In Sound

‘A masterclass in euphoria and heartache in equal measure….Delving into over 30 songs stretching back to the 70s, Hooky and his current outfit performed the entirety of New Order albums Low-Life and Brotherhood – two records that helped shape and define post-punk and synthpop. The result was two hours teeming with heartbreak and affection…..The chronology of the set played perfectly as high spirits continued to grow right up until the end of the show.” Gigwise

“Bruce Springsteen and Leonard Cohen have competition when it comes to marathon concerts. Stepping into the ring is former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook, whose current tour finds him on stage for three hours.” Irish Independent

“Say what you will about Peter Hook, the man has got balls….It was most enjoyable to revisit these albums….for those in the audience who had been too young or not even born when these albums were released, this was clearly a welcome opportunity to get the flavour of these musical riches in concert.” The Times
“Taking in the show, I could imagine that this is what it might have felt like hearing the original New Order playing that material back in the day.  More organic and authentic to the time. I really, really enjoyed this show immensely.” Rock Subculture

“The show was an unquestionable treat for fans….Hooky is an outstanding bass player and it’s truly magical to see him live in action…..Don’t miss this tour if it’s coming to your city.  Peter Hook is a legend.” Hang The DJ / x89 Radio
