TAMPA BREAKWAY FESTIVAL – April 26th-27th

It seemed to be a night of trio punk bands on Friday night as Texan-post-punk-band Spray Paint headlined with support by 80s-Australian-punk- band feedtime brought their minimalist punk approach to the Factory Theatre. Spray Paint has been on tour the last couple of months in Japan and Australia promoting their new LP Punters on the Barge (Homeless Records).  The band’s jarring use of cold, metallic screeching noise and distortion combined with singing almost David Byrne-ish at times brought a sound of blissful dissonance. Disarming yet pleasing. The band sounded tight and the drummer was phenomenal. It is a mystery how he can sing and perform brutal drumming at the same time. Amazing.
