There’s a different excitement watching Perth bands in another country killing it on a big festival stage. That was the feeling when Silent Knight and Lets Kill Uncle hit the stage at the Daimonous Open Air Festival in Sanur, Denpasar on 17 October 2015.

Australia’s leading power metal band, Silent Knight, a five piece act hailing from Perth-AU were the festival headliners. Silent Knight have been touring Australia to support the release of their ‘Conquer & Command’ EP all month. The Daimonous Open Air Festival in Bali was a part of Silent Knight’s tour before the band returned to Perth-AU to conclude their tour with Helloween.

Silent Knight owned the stage as they belted through their set list including Conquer & Command, Prisoner of Your World, Curse of the Black Rose, Masterplan, and Prophets of War. Jesse Onur Oz – Vocals (lead) powered thru his performance, engaging the audience with his antics, and demonstrating why he is known as the King of power ballads around the Perth music scene. Stu McGill – Guitar, Vocals was awesome, pulling the crowd into the fun he was having up on the stage. Cam Nicholas – Guitar (lead) killed it on stage, this guy can shred! Cameron Daw – Bass performed like he owned the stage, and Paul Wrigley was on Drums. The crowd erupted and joined in for Silent Knight’s rendition of Europe’s Final Countdown, and the set was concluded with a tight performance of Power Metal Supreme.

From a photographers perspective there is nothing better than photographing a band that truly enjoys their craft, from Stu smiling through most of his riffs, to capturing Cam holding his axe up in the air, and Jesse leaping on and hanging off the stage structures. This was my first time watching Silent Knight, and I will definitely be going to more gigs in the future!

The other Australian act to hit the stage was Let’s Kill Uncle, a five piece metal band from Perth-AU. Let’s Kill Uncle included the usual bands usual members, Matt Dessauvage – Guitar, Will Schorer – Guitar, and Tom Reid – Bass. Late changes to their line up included Andy Jones – Vocals (lead) and Louis Rando – Drums..

Let’s Kill Uncle mix new and old school thrash metal, with the skills and knowledge of song structure that creates their own unique sound. Let’s Kill Uncle pulled off a killer set, performing The Rise and Fall, The Burial, Tomb, Memento, and Never Again. Andy and Louie were awesome to watch as they bought their own style to the performance. Andy is a great frontman, great at engaging the audience. Dez, Will, and Reidy tore it up as usual. Let’s Kill Uncle, even with changes to their line up, still provided the punters with a commanding performance suited to a concert venue. It was awesome to watch these guys perform, even better to have caught some sick images that a concert venue provides.
