Gabbie Rae: rock and roll’s rising star

Gabbie Rae

Venue: House of Blues, Orlando-Florida–February 4, 2016

Last summer, ‘Rock at Night’ correspondent, Raven, interviewed 17 year-old rising star Gabbie Rae and dubbed her “the future queen of rock”. She has a bit of time to go before owning that title, but I’d have to say, she is off to an excellent start. I was fortunate enough to catch her performance a few weeks ago when she opened the show for Europe at the House of Blues in Orlando. This night was the second to last for Gabbie Rae on a run of select appearances with Europe’s “War of Kings” Tour.

Gabbie Rae kicked off the night with the David Bowie classic, “Rebel Rebel” which thrilled the crowd and immediately peaked their interest. For myself and many others, this was our first introduction to this young powerhouse. With her youthful energy and impressive vocal range, she kept the momentum going and commanded the stage as well as any seasoned performer. Throughout her set she belted out a mix of classic covers from bands such as Heart, Dio, & Motorhead, as well as some of her original songs which included her first major release, “Scream”.

Gabbie Rae made her first stage appearance at the age of 7, but she did not venture into the rock/metal community until just a couple of years ago. Since digging into the trenches of rock, she has created quite a buzz around her. She was invited to perform the National Anthem at Gillette Stadium for a New England Patriots / Tennessee Titans match up, she’s had the opportunity to open for names such as Vince Neil, Queensryche, Stryper, and (of course) Europe, she has performed on the Monsters of Rock Cruise, and she will hit the high seas once again this weekend to perform on the Axes & Anchors cruise with about 40 other bands. In her hometown of LA, she has become a frequent performer at Ultimate Jam Night at Lucky Strike where she has performed alongside artists such as Gilby Clark, August Zadra, and Nuno Bettencourt.

It seems the sky is the limit for this young rock star. She was recently signed under the management of Wendy Dio, and rumor has it that a full- length album may be in the works.

When she isn’t performing, Gabbie Rae acts as an ambassador for Free 2 Luv, which is a non-profit organization working hard to put an end to bullying. She also does what she can to support the Ronnie James Dio ‘Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund’, which supports research and education that furthers early detection, prevention, and treatment of prostate, colon, and stomach cancers.

You can find out more about Gabbie Rae on her website and social media pages. I have certainly become a new fan and I encourage everyone to keep an eye on her musical journey as she sets off to take the rock world by storm.
