EUROCKEENES FESTIVAL

The enchanting setting along Lake Malsaucy, was a romantic oasis where, although surrounded by decibels, young people could taste Love vertigo….

A camping area which accommodates 15,000 participants to the Festival for free is situated close to the site and the parking.

This 28th edition took place over three days from 1st to 3rd July but due to the number of summer festivals and concerts in the three bordering countries (France, Germany and Switzerland) we only attended the last day of the festival, July 3rd.

With 100000 people this year,  THE EUROCKEENNES set up a very dancing edition under a summer sky! As every year, with pluridisciplinary culture, THE INSUS (reformed mythic French band TELEPHONE), TY SEGALL & THE MUGGERS, NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS, THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS, LAST TRAIN, LOUISE ATTAQUE, ALLAH LAS, AIR, BIBI BOURELY, SON LUX, FOALS, ELLE KING, BECK, POKEY LAFARGE, MAC DE MARCO, BLOSSOMS, ZZ TOP, TAME IMPALA, FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES, THE KILLS, COURTNEY BANETT shared the four stages of the Malsaucy peninsula.

FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES – The former GALLOWS singer, Frank CARTER came back to his first love, showing that Punk is not yet dead! His set was amazing, on the edge,  intensive! He showed his Iggy Pop punk rock version jumping into the crowd to let himself carry by the human tide. A must and very colorful moment of the Festival!

THE KILLS – Back after five years, their performance was highly expected! Alison MOSSHART, sensual, wild and sexy with Jamie HINCE and his powerful guitar playing immediately appealed to the fans of the duo. The way they were moving across the big stage was tremendous. The setlist was essentially from “ASH & ICE”, their new album, welcomed by the international press. A few incursions from previous albums « MIDNIGHT BOOM » and «BLOOD PRESSURES » ended the concert and left pleased fans..

IMG_0547TAME IMPALA – These Australian are really on a roll. You will obviously meet the band in all big summer European Festivals, including at the NOS ALIVE FESTIVAL in Lisbon, Portugal. A very sixties psychedelic rock and light show, cosmic and electronic music. No doubt, in the near future, they will be one of the big challenges for the musical revival.  Kevin Parker and his friends, feel quite comfortable far from the kangaroos!

ZZ TOP – Mainstay of Texas Blues scene! Billy GIBBONS, Dusty HILL and drummer Frank BEARD represent alone, 60 millions records sold, worldwide hits and 45 years of mythic concerts in the most prestigious venues! Faithful to their Texan Rockers look, their set even captured a younger audience whose beard doesn’t yet grow !

Full of energy and ready to hit the road to see ROD STEWART in Lisbon, Portugal, this last concert closed the EUROCKEENNES… until next year!

How idyllic the magic would have been if the mythic Woodstock in 69 had been surrounded like the EUROCKEENNES with the Lake Malsaucy !
