Went to check out the Chevelle show at the House of Blues in Orlando. The show featured a trio of trios which is not common in the rock world. The first band that came out was Dinosaur Pile-Up from Leeds in the U.K. I ’d consider them Alt Rock with a heavy edge.
This was my first time seeing them live. They came out with a high energy short set that got the crowd pumped and gained them new fans. That’s the job of an opening act and they nailed it. The set was short and featured songs from their 11:11 album. They reminded me right off the bat of Nirvana with more metal influences. They are a band that you can pick up their influences (Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana id even say so me 60’s rock) but they’ve spun them into something new and exciting. The name fits perfectly because they are like throwing things from the past into a pile and turning it into who they are as a band.
Dinosaur Pile-Up were extremely tight and polished and really set the stage for a great night of music. The show was sold out and every one was moving and enjoying their set. Great stage presence, great playing and good songs. After seeing them live I can’t wait for their follow up to the great 11:11 album. If you haven’t picked that one up I suggest you give it a try.
