Walk the Moon

Opener, Company Of Thieves set the stage and Walk the Moon soared to new heights, Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun arena.  Front man Nicholas Petricca {vocals, synthesizer/keyboards) , Kevin Ray (bass/acoustic guitar), Eli Maiman (guitar), and Sean Waugaman (drums) brought their stratospheric energy and infectious pop/rock to the sold out face painted crowd.

Walk The Moon band members paint designs, band symbols and lines on their faces and as an act of solidarity their fans follow suit. All around the arena, fans could be seen sharing face paint and painting one another.
Lifting it’s name from The Police song “Walking On the Moon” the Cincinnati based band had the crowd on its feet with it’s raw, untamed energy, jumping and dancing to “Press Restart”, “Surrender”, Tiger Teeth, and ”Headphones”.

Petricca’s huge audience appeal backed by his loud boisterous band and great light show (backlit LEDs, a photographers nightmare!) whipped the audience up to a frenzy.

Just when it couldn’t possibly get any crazier, the fans loose all control when Walk The Moon cranks it up tenfold with megahits “Anna Sun”, “Shut Up and Dance” and fan favorite “One Foot”. Walk The Moon’s tour is not for the faint of heart, but it’s a great show to start the New Year with!

Company Of Thieves

Company of Thieves

Chicago’s Company Of Thieves proved to be the perfect opener for Walk The Moon Saturday night. Company Of Thieves founders Genevieve Schatz (vocals) and Marc Walloch (Guitar) along with long time member Chris Faller (bass, drums, keys) and tour mates Mike Maimone (keys), and Brendan McCusker (drums) warmed the Mohegan Sun Arena crowd with their indie rock style.

Schatz’s unique sound matched her dancing, as she writhed for the crowd she called “the largest crowd we ever played for”. Her smokey vocals on hits “Pressure” and “Oscar Wilde” were in contrast to the politically charged “Treasure” .

Company of Thieves sound has always been based on the three piece band, however the addition of Maimone and McCusker for the tour gives the music more depth and help fill the larger arenas they are playing on this tour. Company Of Thieves first release in 6 years “Better Together” EP is available at all shows on the tour and due out to the public 2/23/18.
