Local Rockentrepreneur Jim Chambers of Jim Chambers Music Box aka ‘Tampa’s Finest Music Academy,’ unveils a brand-new performance space, SHINEBOX. The shiny new concert hall will cater to local, regional and national acts and is available for bookings now. The opening celebration of SHINEBOX is slated for September 15th with a line up chock full of JCMB’s most popular performers; Sick Hot, Favorite Habit and Victoria Grills. The show is All Ages with no cover charge. For more information and updated concert announcements follow SHINEBOX here.
For over six years, Chambers and JCMB has been dedicated to more than just teaching scales and rudiments, JCMB builds up young musicians while fostering a vibrant creative community. The performance academy is a safe place for local kids (over 400 and counting) to explore, express and experiment. With his longtime experience as a Grammy® winning international music industry executive, Chambers’ experience serves as an added benefit for his students; his artist development expertise has led to the formation of five album producing bands and six performing ensembles, who combined have performed over 150 live concerts. A Long Way From Kansas, Extra Celestial, Heroes For Hire, Sick Hot, Inkblot, are among the bands that have launched out of The Box. The groups have performed on local television, MLB & NFL sporting events, Gasparilla Music Festival, various benefits and more.
The Music Box was recently hailed by the critics in Creative Loafing as “Musician Incubator Of the Year.” With the new addition of the live performance space JCMB students are able to fine-tune their skills up on a stage in a club environment. SHINEBOX will also be available to all area promoters and agents. Chambers explains, “Early on in my music career – I was a concert promoter. I LOVED bringing new acts and people together with the hopes of a special music connection. With the advent of less and less performance space in The City of Tampa, I decided to dedicate part of JCMB into a premier live music room called SHINEBOX. This will super serve the students of JCMB, the city of Tampa Bay and the countless acts that need to play here.”

I'm a photojournalist who is passionate about music. I love the adrenaline of shooting live concerts. Photography has given me the opportunity to photograph some of today's most legendary bands, and entertainers. When I'm not photographing music you can find me on the runway shooting New York and Philadelphia Fashion Week.
