By Jeff Madore, Rock At Night Orlando
Venue: House of Blues, Orlando, Florida-September 17, 2018
On a blistering night at the House of Blues Orlando Parkway Drive and friends made it even hotter. I have never been to a more packed show at the HOB. Sold out is an understatement.
The show started out with Australia’s Polaris. Touring for their 2017 release The Mortal Coil. They played a great opening set that really set the tone for the evening. The crowd was behind them from the start and jumping to all the heavy grooves they were laying down. They were extremely polished and can’t wait to hear more from them.
Next up were veterans of the hardcore/metal scene The Devil Wears Prada. The band from Ohio has been around since 2005 and I’ve seen them several times now. They never fail to impress. They sounded fantastic and the light show equaled their energy on stage. Catch them on their fall tour for the 10th anniversary of With Roots Above & Branches Below.
The third band of the night was the hugely popular August Burns Red. They owned the stage from start to finish. Microphone gymnastics, lights for days, insane drum beats and howls of passion. I’ve always been a fan of this band and it was a treat to catch them again.
To close out were headliners Parkway Drive another Australian band. Touring for their new album Reverance they showed why they were the headliners in this stacked lineup. From the lightshow to the sound they were polished and intense. The crowd was one of the craziest I’ve ever been a part of. Got kicked in the head several times by crowd surfers but I loved every minute of it. If by the chance the show is coming to a location near you buy your ticket now! They will sell out quick and it’s a must see tour to end summer.
