Pacific Radio release new holiday song and video, “December”

Los Angeles indie rock band Pacific Radio have released a holiday song called “December” just in time to make it part of your favorite Christmas song collection. Not only did they treat us to a new song but they also made a brand-new video  which you can watch below.

This is what the guys had to say about the song and the video:

“December” has been in our repertoire for a while but never made its way out of the rehearsal room. This year we decided to finally let it have a life. We started out with an acoustic guitar and vocal version, then swapped the acoustic for an electric guitar, but still didn’t like the mood that was being set. During a listen back, Kyle noodled around with a simple accompaniment on his Wurlitzer, and we realized he might be on to something. In the end we settled on the Wurli with a tremolo guitar backing it up. For the vocal, we used a really old microphone that just sounds broken. We played with some delay and reverb, but it just took away from the starkness we were trying to get across. The video is the story of a guy taking flowers to meet his holiday date, which we shot ourselves in an evening in downtown Los Angeles”. – Pacific Radio

Unlike many of the joyful Christmas songs you hear this time of year, “December” is an honest, melancholy side to the holidays that is refreshing to hear. Let’s face it, December is not always a happy time of year for everyone. The somberness of “December” is also a much different take on the band’s usual upbeat sound and it was a very unexpected surprise which goes to show how great and dynamic Pacific Radio are. The beautifully produced video adds to the atmospheric quality of the song which I’m glad the band decided to bring to life both musically and visually. Makes you wonder what Pacific Radio have in store for their next album and I just can’t wait.

Make sure to check out the video on Youtube and listen to the song “December” on all streaming platforms.

Pacific Radio are:  Joe Robinson (vocals, guitar), Joe Stiteler (bass), Kyle Biane (guitar), Hyke Shirinian (drums)
