Kid Rock’s Made in Detroit eatery/venue, located inside the Little Caesars Arena in Midtown, Detroit, launched a “Battle of the Bands” contest in May, for local bands to win the chance to be the next live hired house band on Friday nights for the Detroit Red Wings Season (2019-2020). Each Friday night, two bands will vie for the honor to compete in the finals on August 16th.

Rock At Night has been following blues-rock trio Rolling Blue since early 2015, and was thrilled to hear they were in the running for the contest.  Rolling Blue, which is comprised of Joe Worrall (vocals/guitar), Brianna Worrall (drums), and Anthony Weems (bass), cites their influences as classic rock (Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones) but with a bit of contemporary (White Stripes, Black Keys).  Personally, I think their style and genre would fit well inside the Detroit-themed restaurant/venue which serves up both local specialties as well as Southern cooking. Detroit is all about down-home rock and roll!

On Friday, July 12th, Rolling Blue started their set around 8 p.m. to a packed room of ladies, men, and even kids, that were ready to dance and move.  The 24-song set of both originals and covers were very well-received—so much, that Rolling Blue won the contest against metal band Black Heiron that evening!  Rolling Blue will now be heading to the finals in August.  Best of luck to the band!
