Quebec City native Hubert Lenoir burst onto the scene in 2018 with his debut album Darlene, a release that blew up in his native Quebec before capturing a Polaris Prize Shortlist nomination and the attention of the international media. He blossomed into the public consciousness of the English-speaking world with publications like VICE, and Milk. He has kept busy playing sold out tours all over Europe, and appearing at major festivals like Reeperbahn and SXSW. Lenoir has shared his first new music since his debut LP, with the premiere of “hunny bunny,” which also features Australia’s Kirin J. Callinan.
The single is something of a departure from the swaggering, prog-inflected glam of Lenoir’s debut, adopting a more electronic palette than most of his previous releases, and is a rare English-language turn from the Francophone songwriter. The video for the song was directed by Lenoir’s longtime artistic partner Noemie Leclerc and Gabriel Lapointe. You can check out the video below.
“Hunny Bunny” is out now on Simone Records. It is available on all streaming platforms here.
