Single Reviews: Blitz Vega-“Hey Christo” and “Lost and Found”

BLITZ VEGA (comprised of Andy Rourke of The Smiths and KAV formerly of Happy Mondays) have released two (2) singles–one in May (“Hey Christo”) and one recently (“Lost and Found”).

“Lost and Found” starts with a cacophony of noises and voices and then segues into a very cool, Oasis-esque, pop-rock song.  It’s really catchy and has an early-90s feel.

“Hey Christo” starts with synths and then a hard-driving beat, followed by vocals that are almost post-punk.  The chorus “Hey, Christo, hey Christo, you’re not alone, you need to let it go” is really catchy and ear-worm worthy.  The song has an 80s feel, similar to “I Ran” by Flock of Seagulls.

I am totally loving what I am hearing!  I really hope Blitz Vega releases an EP or full-album because it is obvious the creative juices are flowing for this duo. Melding the sound of The Smiths and Happy Mondays is sheer heaven!
