A Not So Silent Night- Kate McGarrigle Fund Concert

Rufus and Martha Wainwright bring their acclaimed Christmas show, A Not So Silent Night, back to London for the first time in ten years for what promises to be one of the concert highlights of the year. Scheduled for December 6th at London’s Royal Festival Hall, special guests include Sophie Ellis Bextor, Guy Garvey, Chrissie Hynde, Jenni Muldaur, the Rails (Kami Thompson & James Walbourne) and Neil Tennant.

First performed in 2005, this holiday celebration is equal parts concert and family reunion. “Ten years ago our mother Kate McGarrigle played what was to be her last performance ever at the Royal Albert Hall which was one of the most beautiful and emotional nights of my life,” Rufus Wainwright recalls. “Martha and I are honoured and excited to return to London to celebrate the 10th anniversary and Christmas.”

Dan Gillespie Sells, lead singer of the Feeling and composer of the hit West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, will be the show’s musical director. The band will include Richard Jones and Paul Stewart. All proceeds from the concerts will go towards the Kate McGarrigle Fund supporting sarcoma research and a music therapy program for cancer patients to be launched by Martha Wainwright in conjunction with Stand Up To Cancer Canada. A few tickets and some very special experience packages are still available through the South Bank Centre website.

All profits from these shows and the sale of the special experiences go towards the Kate McGarrigle Fund
