By Andrea Ramirez-Maciolek, Rock At Night Pittsburgh
Without a doubt, Derek Day is one of the most talented guitarists of our generation. Rock at Night sat down to chat with the guitar phenom who was scouted out by Steve Vai when he caught a glimpse of his YouTube video playing a cover of “Pride and Joy” by Stevie Ray Vaughan at the Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade -that video landed Derek a tour spot with Steve Vai. Day has collaborated with some of music’s heavy hitters such as Ted Nugent, Lynch Mob, Steel Panther, Living Colour, Moby and the impressive list goes on and on.
In our interview, we talk about how he got started in music, his Fender endorsement, what the future holds for Derek, and we dug deep to his Honduran roots and even spoke a little bit of Spanish.
If there is anyone who knows the true meaning of hustling towards success it’s Derek Day who recently released his latest single “Another Day”. From his early days of busking to playing with the best of the best in the music industry, there is no stopping Derek Day who promises to be one of rock’s greatest guitar virtuoso.
