Rock At Night loves to celebrate women and we proudly have a category on our website “Women in Rock.” With our upcoming Winter print edition celebrating “Women in the Music Industry,” it is only fitting that we interview the rockin’ two-time Grammy nominee Mindi Abair.
With a stellar career spanning experience as a saxophonist, singer, and songwriter, Mindi has had radio hits in the jazz, blues, and pop world—both as a solo artist as well as a member of R&B band Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers. She has toured and worked with many amazing artists—Aerosmith, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Perry, Adam Sandler, Duran Duran, Greg Allman—which is just the tip of the iceberg.
Even in the midst of the pandemic, Mindi is still as busy as ever, doing her weekly musical livestreams where fans can virtually share a glass a wine with her from her company Reserve Tastings Wine Company. Whether at the piano singing, playing a duet with husband and business partner Eric Guerra, or collaborating on the front porch with friends, she welcomes fans into her home, keeping spirits upbeat during this strange year.
In this podcast, Mindi discusses her experience as a female in the male-dominated music world; her involvement with The Recording Academy, She Rocks Awards, and MusiCares; her latest release “Forever”; Yamaha’s digital saxophone; working with Greg Allman; and more!
