A new festival focusing on bringing more gender equality to the live music scene is launching this August.
No Man’s Land was created after the team felt disappointment about the lack of gender diversity on UK festival line-ups. Taking place at Manchester multi-stage venue YES on Saturday 14th August 2021, the all day event is set to put a spotlight on some of the most exciting non-male acts in the UK right now.
Today (Wednesday 28th April) they have announced the event’s first wave of names, with some unreal acts to check out ahead of the event. London based punks Qlowski and Glaswegian riot grrrl gang Brat Coven are two of the first to be namechecked on the line-up. Hotly tipped trio bigfatbig, chillpop singer Jess Fitz, Manchester grunge 5 piece The Wine Fund, and Leeds singer-songwriter Laeeqa round off the first wave announcement.
Also, hosting the event is London based drag queen Ash Kenazi, who you may also know as the drummer of Happyness. The organisers have also paired up with Safe Gigs For Women, a vital organisation which strives to create a safer environment for female gig goers, and all ticket money raised will be going towards their cause.
The team behind the event have said: “No Man’s Land was born from anger about the lack of gender diversity on festival lineups, we’re really excited to be a force for change. Partnering with Safe Gigs For Women felt like an obvious choice to make, their work resonates within us all. With a full women/non-binary lineup, No Man’s Land is here for chaos.”
The rest of the line-up is to be announced soon, with very limited early bird tickets going on sale this Friday 30th April via SeeTickets.
