On Saturday, April 24th,  rock band Van Go Go held a private release party and livestream event at the venerable Shinola Hotel, Detroit, for the unveiling of their self-titled master album. Rock At Night was there to capture the moment as the four long-time friends celebrated their effort which essentially spanned 12 years between the onset of the band’s formation in 2008, their subsequent disbandment nine months later to pursue different career goals, and reformation in 2020. Feeling nostalgic and retrospective during COVID, the band rekindled their friendships, and picked up where they left off by finishing and recording with producer Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Soundgarden, Tantric) at the legendary Pearl Sound Studios (Asking Alexandria, Eminem, Filter).

Currently, the 8-song album is available via streaming and download on major platforms.  The first three singles “Big Mistake”, “Imaginary Friend”, and “Both of Us” have received over 500,000 streams and 100,000 plus plays on YouTube. Vocalist/guitarist Nathan MacKinder describes Van Go Go’s sound as “good classic, straight-up rock—pure fun.”  Read Rock At Night’s reviews of the singles and look for our upcoming interview with the band.

According to MacKinder and guitarist/vocalist Jason Schaller, the band will perform the music live once it is safe for the general population to attend concerts. Stay tuned for the release of the album pressings.

So forget COVID, get Van Go Go fever, and check out their music!
