NYC-based Ridiculous B!tch is the product of two showbiz veterans who have been involved in many sides of the rock and media industries. With the entertainment industry’s pandemic-forced hiatus, principals Karen Xerri and Jimmie Marlowe found a need to channel their restlessness and energies.

Enter the highly theatrical affair of the duo’s eponymous EP.

Frontwoman Xerri keeps you on edge with the sassy voice and vaguely sinister atmosphere of the likes of Eartha Kitt and performance artist Peaches, all buffeted by the charged instrumental stylings of Marlowe. Tracks like the highlight “Forget Murder” give this reviewer the sense that he’s again in a charged East Village cabaret, not daring to leave until the house lights come on. I could picture this duo performing a reimagining of Sweeney Todd—and getting away with it.
