Bad Touch knows Southern Rock and is one of our favorites here at Rock at Night. We have been following them for over 5 years. You can check out an early 2016 interview with the lead singer, Stevie Westwood at the link HERE. Recently they entered into the studio to record a tribute cover of The Marshall Tucker Band‘s epic song “Can’t You See.” They recorded the track at the new Marshall Studio with renowned producer Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Gun, Feeder).
Stevie said, ‘It’s such a great song, both the original and the Black Stone Cherry versions are out of this world. We hope that our one stands up with them, it was a lot of fun to do.” Released now in advance of their upcoming November 2021 tour, Bad Touch were one of the first bands to record music in the new state-of-the-art Marshall Studio recording studio.
This song was written by Toy Caldwell and originally released in 1973 on Marshall Tucker‘s album and then re-released in 1977. It got steady airplay for years. The original recording had a flute intro and outro performed by Jerry Eubanks. Since the 70s, the song has been covered many times by luminaries such as Waylon Jennings and the Zac Brown Band with Kid Rock.
Stevie also described working at the Marshall Studio as an amazing opportunity. “After such an awful 18 months for the music business, to be invited to such a space was a real gift,” says Stevie. “We thank Chris for making the songs sound interstellar.”
The rest of the band are: Rob Glendinning on guitar, Daniel Seekings on guitar, Michael Bailey on bass and George Drewry on drums.
Bad Touch starts their “Better Late Than Never” UK tour in November and December of this year rescheduled from last spring’s dates (all original tickets remain valid). Special
guests, Midlands rockers, PISTON perform at all shows except Leo’s Red Lion.
Bad Touch will perform songs from their album “Kiss the Sky,” as well as other songs from their vast body of work. Known as one of UK’s hardest working bands, Bad Touch are looking forward to performing live again. For tour information, click HERE. If you don’t have your tickets yet, get them HERE.
About the cover of The Marshall Tucker Band‘s “Can’t You See,” Rock at Night says: “Great cover of this epic song about love gone wrong and rambling on. This is a British band that plays Southern Rock just as well as our artists here in the US. We loved the band’s rendition of this classic song!”
