Rock At Night has been following Arizona-based songwriter/musician Tommy Fradenburgh AKA JUST TOMMY since we heard his uplifting version of Pharrell’s “Happy”. We even had the opportunity to speak with him about his socially-conscious single “Run!”, which was released in September. Now, we are proud to premiere the single’s accompanying video–and it’s a doozy.
Tommy portrays a broadcast journalist (Network comes to mind) on the fictitious Fake News Network. Images related to conspiracy theories (e.g., contrails, UFO’s) are flashed before the song goes into a full-blown chorus with flashing lights and a trio of Tommys (good editing effects). The next news headline behind Tommy says “Brand New Information” as speech balloons provide new information to the flat earthers (“Looks round to me, bro’!). Later, we see “Old News” such as “Cyberdyne Systems” and “Skynet is real”. Before spoiling the rest, just watch the video in its entirety as it provides total context to the lyrics of the song. A clever satire, thought-provoking images, and a catchy melody–this video has it all!
