Review: D’Virgilio, Morse, & Jennings’ video/single -“Everything I Am” –
*Debut album titled ‘Troika’ will be released on Feb 25th, 2022.
ROCK AT NIGHT SAYS: D’Virgilio, Morse & Jennings ditch the technical noodling that is typical of prog and mostly keep things stripped back to acoustic guitars, percussion, and vocals for their second single. With its bright sound and introspective lyrics, the song evokes the folk style of Crosby, Stills & Nash though it never comes across as derivative of the seminal trio given Morse’s distinct vocal ad libs. Complimenting the retro flavor of the track is the use of grainy footage and blurred lines in the music video, an effect that makes us believe we’re watching a well-loved VHS tape. Add in the camera wipes used throughout the nearly six-minute runtime, and you have a mesmerizing marriage of sound and vision. Check out the video below!
