Bobby Mahoney is a local musician who I have watched perform and photograph for a good number of years now. As a solo artist as well as with his band The Seventh Son he is without a doubt one of the most genuine and respectful musicians. He is a true testament to how the music industry works.

This week was our annual Asbury Park, NJ Light of Day weekend where some of the most incredible musicians perform all day and night around town. Bobby himself performed at least a half dozen times that included playing with Williams Honor at House of Independents, singer songwriter rounds at the Transparent Clinch Gallery, midnight sets at the Berkley Hotel, a full band set at The Stone Pony and of course on stage for the main event with all the other amazing musicians. He even performed on the Asbury Park St. Patty’s Day Parade Light of Day float this past Sunday. Bobby has performed with so many great musicians including Joe Grushecky, Willie Nile, Jesse Malin and yes, even Bruce Springsteen.

What stands out the most about Bobby is his heart and soul and dedication to his craft. He respects everyone around him and truly appreciates all of his supporters. He has a great team around him that helps with all the logistics of his shows and is a pleasure to work with. In some ways I feel like we are very similar in how we go about our business him as a musician and me as a photographer. Our work ethic and dedication to our skill sets are unmatched.

Even during the pandemic Bobby was hosting every Sunday morning a live streamed event called “Bloody Mary’s and Coffee”. It was definitely the most watched series of any local artist around. I am glad to call Bobby and his family friends and wish him all the success in the world.
