Live Review: SURFBORT with Pussy Gillette and The Stools – The Loving Touch, Ferndale, Michigan – February 27, 2022
I’m about a ten-minute drive from downtown Detroit at a locals favorite, The Loving Touch in ‘Fashionable Ferndale’. The Loving Touch has been around since 2008. They book National and Indie bands and funny enough, they took their name from a massage parlor that was located next door to it.
The Loving Touch was was pretty crowded considering it was a Sunday night. Metro Detroit was waiting for Dani and the guys from Surfbort to take the stage. They were formed in New York in 2015 and are currently out on their 2K22 U.S Tour in support of their newest album Keep On Truckin’.
Detroit natives The Stools and Pussy Gillette from Austin, TX got the place rocking before Surfbort took the stage around 10:30 p.m. The guys were warming up on stage while Dani made her way through the crowd. Stopping to say “hi” and posing for a few fan pics along the way. They opened the show with “FML” off of their new album and the energy just didn’t stop. “Killed By Food” had the whole front of the house screaming along.
Surborts are heading to Pittsburgh next and will finish up this leg of the tour in Seattle at the Freakout Festival. For a wild night, catch them!
