Review: Mamadrama at the Asbury Park Yacht Club

Mamadrama started in 2015 as a kickass mom band that has 11 kids combined. I met most of them as adult students at Lakehouse Music Academy where a few times a year they had their Big Gig (student showcases) which I have been photographing for about 7 years now. These ladies rock and have so much fun doing it. They are jokesters but at the same time are professional musicians who decided to take the show on the road. Pre-pandemic they were playing all around Asbury and surrounding areas like the Chubby Pickle in the Atlantic Highlands, NJ, the Saint in Asbury Park, and of course the Asbury Park Yacht Club which has been an awesome place to see just about everything. The music is free, the people are great, and the staff is really cool. The Yacht Club opens up right onto the boardwalk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Mamadrama consists of Beth (vocals), Renee (bass), Carey (lead guitar), Kim (keys, vocals), Lauren (rhythm guitar) and Brendan (drums). What a fun band to watch perform and great on the eyes I must say as they all dress the part of rock ‘n’ rollers. They play originals as well as covers and last night they played a great cover of Dramarama’s “Anything, Anything (I’ll Give You)”. John Easdale is a personal friend of mine (just thought I would throw that in there).
Check out Mamadrama’s new single “M-I-L-F” which is available on all platforms.
Keep an eye on these ladies as I have a feeling they are going to be around for a while.
