Who says that Friday the 13th has to be unlucky? If you like being around family, friends, whiskey, loud music, chainsaws, good ole fashion rock & roll and a room full of “Dirty Little Minds” then Friday the 13th 2022 at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida was the place to be.

Jackyl is one of those bands that haven’t aged. Having attended multiple Jackyl shows myself over the years, around 30-plus years, if you really want to know. These guys still sound the same and their energy on stage hasn’t changed one bit. If you have never been to a Jackyl show, you really don’t know what you are missing.

Getting their start back in 1991 in Kennesaw, Georgia, Jackyl is and has been one of the hardest working bands in the rock and roll industry. Setting two Guinness world records, one for playing 100 concerts in 50 days, and one for performing 21 concerts in a 24-hour period, they played the shows in Texas with no shortcuts. They had all the bells and whistles of a full stage setup of lights and sound. Daytime sets would run 45 minutes and nighttime were from 90 minutes to two hours long.

Kicking off the show with “Blast Off”, from their 2016 album Rowyco and keeping the crowd going right into “My Moonshine Kicks Your Cocaine’s Ass”. If you love whisky, Jesse also has his own line of Jesse James Spirits including “The Original Jesse James America’s Outlaw Bourbon Whiskey” that he sips from on stage so his fans do not have to drink alone while watching the show.

The set included several songs from their self-titled debut album, “Down on Me”, “I Stand Alone”, “When Will It Rain”, “Redneck Punk”, and “Dirty Little Mind”.  Also, the show included “Encore (It Makes My Bic Dig Her)”, “Screwdriver”, “Push Comes to Shove”, “Whisky Bent and Hell Bound” by Hank JR, “Just Because I’m Drunk”, and the brand new, not yet released “Get All Up In It”. Ending the show, Jesse James Dupree pulled out his iconic chainsaw for “Lumberjack”, also from their debut album.
