Review: Cass Clayton’s ” We Are All Going Down”
Cass Clayton and her band are making quite a name for the bot the singer and her band around the concert stages and festivals in the Rocky Mountain region.
There are some quite obvious reasons why that is the case. Clayton herself has a brilliant voice that she uses quite effectively, the band is musically tight almost to perfection and they come up with an attractive blend of rock, R&B, funk, blues and soul.
So it came as no wander that CCB’s 2019 album, PLAY NICE, was the #1 R&B Album in the U.S. for 11 weeks in 2019/20 (Roots Music Report Top 50 R&B Album Chart). It also reached #1 on the Top 50 Colorado Album Chart in 2020. The band’s previous album, self-titled CASS CLAYTON BAND, won ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2018 in the Colorado Blues Society annual awards.
The reasons are quite evident with Cass Clayton Band’s latest single ‘We Are All Going Down.’ With Clayton’s voice in the forefront, the band is in the blues/Stax southern soul groove that makes something that might be considered as yesterday’s sounds as fresh as today’s music requires, the songs title notwithstanding.
Quite a big promise for a great album from Cass Clayton Band.
