Live Review: Women That Rock event at the Haven, Winter Park, Florida-August 6, 2022

For the third time the Haven hosted an all female fronted event. In August 2021 we witnessed the first of what looks to be many shows to come. It was the first annual “Women That Rock”. Shortly after it was announced that another show would also come in April 2022, its Sister show “Metal Goddess Show”. During the April event they made a little teaser announcement to be on the lookout for a second Women that Rock could come August 2022. And it happened. August 6th, 2022 some of the greatest female fronted bands came together to put on the second annual Women That Rock.

First to take the stage, NocturniuM. The thing that caught my eye, and later my ears, with this band was that they have not one, but two female front ladies on vocals. The vocals together and solo were outstanding and complemented each other very well in their songs. Jay Silence aka Filthy J, The vocal god of F.I.L.T.H. and Tori Braccio on guitars bring this group to a whole new level of Central Florida metal. Seeing how well this set of dual singers and guitars came together on stage made me think, What more could we see? It wasn’t long into the set when they showed us by inviting singer Danielle Rodriguez to the stage adding a third set of vocals. I believe we will see a lot more from NocturniuM.

Second up from Jacksonville, Florida is Dancing With Ghost. This was one fun band to watch. The energy level was through the roof. This was another first time band for me and through the entire set they kept my interest along with everyone else in the room. Performing originals and a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”. Having a lot of fun with the audience while getting everyone involved in their music and also going live on Facebook during the performance.

Level The Planet brings their “Shitty Neighbor” tour and kicks off their set with the tour title song, inspired by true events “Shitty Neighbor”. Level The Planet are the only band to have played all three female fronted events. Next up, one of my favorites “She Wants Revenge”. Also, for the Latin community, written and sang in Spanish “Todavía Colgada”, handing out roses to the ladies standing up front. For their cover of Stevie Nicks with “Edge Of Seventeen”, Ashley from NocturniuM joins the stage and helps knock it out of the park. The whole set the band has sounded flawless when guitarist Adam announces that their drummer Shawn, just started practicing with them around 2:00PM that day. Not only had he just started, This was his very first show in front of an audience. I am glad to have been there to witness the event. Finishing their set Adam brings out his two string cigar box made guitar to perform “Watch it Burn”.

Last, but not least from Orlando, Florida, Auditory Armory. This band is no stranger to the Haven lounge. I have been too many of their shows there and have enjoyed each and every one. The energy that they bring on and off the stage is what you can look forward to at every show. Their support for the other bands, whether a fellow local band or one who has traveled to be there. April Rose, vocal and guitar is a true rocker with an amazing voice. Next to April, her husband and bassist, Justice. And Oscar on drums and Dennis on guitar. You can also get on stage, as with this show, guitar tech and fellow guitar player Izzy Deadstill.
