Single Review: “Gypsy Girl”
Release Date: August 16, 2022
New England’s Kristian Montgomery and the Winterkill Band have another studio release that is scheduled to drop on October 31st; their fourth full length recording to date titled “Lower County Outlaw.” This week they released the first single from that album: “Gypsy Girl.”
We at Rock at Night have been following epic country-rock songwriter, Kristian Montgomery and his band for a few years now. Earlier this year, the band released “A Heaven for Heretics” to critical acclaim and we reviewed it–you can check out that story HERE.
This newest cut “Gypsy Girl” was engineered by Andrew Koss (Alicia Keys and John Legend) at The Studio at Strawberry Fields Lane nestled in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Kristian says of the song, “It is a Cajun laced love story that turned into an epic journey. Listen closely and you will hear a hint of Peter Gabriel’s song “Solsbury Hill.“”
About the new single, Rock at Night says:
“This is a country-rock and folk song with beautiful lyrics and an acoustic rhythm guitar hook that will have you swaying! Great electric guitar at the break…lyrics about an unrequited love make this song poignant and classic. What did Kristian do differently about this recording? He played all of the guitars on this track! And BRAVO!“
Keep your eyes here to catch up with a review of the full album sometime in October.
