Live Review: Sam Hunt w/Lily Rose and Ryan Hurd-Friday, August 19, 2022-Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, Connecticut
Sizzling country star, Sam Hunt entertained a sold out crowd at Mohegan Sun Arena with an impressive collection of No.1 country hits, “Body Like A Back Road”, “Leave The Night On”, and “Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s”, among others.
The great vocals of Georgia native Lily Rose started the night off with “Know My Way Around”, “Remind Me Of You”, “In My Drinks”. Unfortunately there was way too much fog and dense dark blue lighting to actually see her and that took away little from her performance.
With improved stage visibility, singer/song writer Ryan Hurd came onstage to a loud reception from the audience. Hurd has co-written some of country’s biggest hits including “Lonely Tonight” (Blake Shelton), “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” (Luke Bryan), ACM Award-nominated “What If I Never Get Over You” and “You Look Good” (Lady A), and “Heartless” (Diplo ft. Morgan Wallen). Hurd’s latest single, “Every Other Memory,” has been dubbed one of the Best Songs of 2020. Ryan Hurd picked up the energy quickly with popular songs “Waves” ,“Platonic”, and “June, July, August”. The crowd also responded enthusiastically to “To a T”, and :What Are You Drinking”.
Both Lily Rose and Ryan Hurd did a great job with their sets, but the crowds reaction to Sam Hunt taking the stage was unmistakable, they were there for the headliner.
Hunt and his band were fired up from the start. “Break Up in a Small Town”, “House Party”, and “Ex to See” were just a few of the stand out songs. Sam Hunt had a successful song writing career before launching his solo performing career. Hunt has written hit singles for Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Billy Currington, and Reba McEntire. His debut studio album, Montevallo, broke several chart records with five singles from the record.
With the crowd on their feet and singing right along with every song. Hunt’s smooth and easy style did not disappoint his fans, playing a full set of hits as well as his new single “Water Under the Bridge”
The tour is scheduled to go into November with new dates still being added. With this lineup playing for almost 4 hours, this show is a huge value of great country music!
