Review: Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts’ single “Ballad of a Misspent Youth”-Release date August 12, 2022
In 2020 Tuk Smith and The Restless Hearts released their debut single “What kind of Love” and were due to tour with Def Leppard and Motley Crew before Covid blighted their plans. Fast-forward to 2022 and the band, now signed to MRG a sub label of Virgin Records, are about to release a new album of high energy rock and roll.
Their latest single “Ballad of a Misspent Youth” has a “ Brown Sugar “ riff interspersed with a driving beat and spiralling guitars overlaid with Smith’s defiant vocals that grabs you with the first line and doesn’t let go. The Lyrics list a series of wrong turns accompanied by a refrain of being “too young to die and too fast and loose” before giving way to a climatic guitar break. This number will resonate with many and deserves extensive airplay.
