Live Review: Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats, and Eats-Royal Oak, Michigan-September 5, 2022
Many of us here in Michigan are not ready to stop soaking in the sun. One staple end of summer event that should never be missed is the Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats Presented by Flagstar Bank, it is an absolute perfect way to enjoy a Labor Day weekend.
Located in beautiful Royal Oak Michigan this year the event celebrated its 25th year anniversary and through-out its lifetime has raised over 6 million dollars donated to charities.
It all started in 1998 in Pontiac, Michigan. However this energetic event has called Royal Oak, MI its home since 2010. Every Labor Day weekend the city transforms into another world. Local and national artisans, musicians, culinary creators, vendors, and sensations flood the streets.
And this year was no exception…
Arts, Beats, and Eats – Monday Night
The Labor Day tradition of attending Arts Beats and Eats wrapped up Monday night with a hip-hop show to remember. The VIP area was sold out and the perimeter by the Jim Beam National stage was packed to full capacity. The crowd looked like they were all anticipating the killer lineup of Montell Jordan, Rob Base, and Flo Rida. The energy of everyone was in the air, charging further as this electrifying performance struck everyone’s hearts.
Montell Jordan opened the stage with a fan favorite classic from 1995 “This is How We Do It”. Next, he teased the crowd with the Beginning of “Let’s Ride”, but ended up following it up with “Falling.” Right in the middle of the show, he was accompanied by special guest Flavor Flav! You know it’s time to party when Flavor Flav shows up, and all knew the ball was definitely on when he surprised us.
Rob Base came on and started it with “Get Your Hands Up” immediately prompting the crowd to react and throw their hands up! Everyone knew these tracks! When “Joy and Pain” came on, everyone was also feeling the sunshine and rain (it sprinkled a bit, but wasn’t a pain), The celebration continued as old school hit after hit brought back memories and made new ones.
The festival was in full swing and overflowing with people surrounding the stage. From the numbers alone, you could tell Detroit has a lot of Flo Rida fans. As the live band complemented with dancers stepped onto the stage, a familiar tune could be heard. The intro to “Good Feeling” was playing, and we all knew Flo Rida was about to appear at any moment. He jumped out from the back of the stage and the crowd went wild! Grabbed the mic and the show begun. Playing many favorites he even provided the audience with a champagne shower. Was an incredible show stopping performance to close out an eventful Labor Day weekend at Art Beats and Eats. Can’t wait till Next year!
