Mee-oow! A one-of-its-kind highbred show featuring punk rock, techno, and a cat adoption fundraiser hosted by Punx for Paws and Detroit Alley Cats called “Cat Party” held its second annual benefit event at the Tangent Gallery in Detroit, MI on Caturday 9/17. With 13 bands, 7 DJs, and over 25 vendors, the event raised over $5,000 that will be donated to Detroit Alley Cats and All About Animals, both local Michigan animal rescues.

This spunky show featured many local favorites such as The Picassos, Nina Sofia, Krissy Booth, and LRAD…DEATH CAT even released their new Furrocious Flicks album that coincide with their new horror host show Castle Cat TV! Plus new upcoming bands played such as Middle-Out and Solar Drip, who closed out the show with an insane hour long set of complete chaos.

Cat and animal lovers from all over came out of their boxes to celebrate this unique event. Premier Pet Supply was handing out goodie bags for all the feline fans. The techno side of the house was lit! Litter-ally on fire with Krispina’s fire, Mel Beatz dropping the beats, and DJ Kitty spinning some treats.

Vendors from the local area lined the inside and outside of the event, offering all sorts of creations, from perfumes, gemstone necklaces, lithography prints, artwork, t-shirts, live-painted art from local artists and more, even a delicious vegan taco menu! So many amazing things were happening that some people were even saying they didn’t want to leave, but camp out at the Tangent and leave the next morning if they could!

A heartwarming thank you to all attendees and everyone who adopted a new fluffy friend, as 5 out of 9 cats present at the event found their furrrever homes. Plus each new owner was gifted with a personalized kitty portrait by Bridget Sullivan, a handmade, done-on-the-spot acrylic painting of their new family member!

Cat Party was the purr-fect event for the local cats, art, and music scene. I cat wait till next year!
