Review: Robert Jon & the Wreck’s single-“Who Can You Love“-Release date December 13, 2022
Multi-Grammy award winner Don Was doesn’t just go on to produce anybody, unless he really likes how an artist sounds like. After all, he’s the man that produced multiple Bob Dylan albums and is currently the president of Blue Note, one of the most prestigious jazz labels around.
So, to many in might come as a surprise that Was decided to produce an up-and-coming southern roots/Americana band that is Robert Jon & The Wreck. Yet, when you add the fact that the band’s latest single, ‘Who Can You Love’ is released on Joe Bonamassa’s newest independent label, Journeyman Records, the mystery is becoming more and more clear.
And when you play the song, you can realize why such big names are backing Robert Jon Burrison and his band. Crisp, catchy melody, excellent playing and singing and harmony vocals, all recalling Los Lobos at their best, are not that easy to come by these days.
Reigning from Southern California, Robert Jon & The Wreck take the Southern rock sound from the east coast and make it their own. Since their inception in 2011, these four native Californians; Robert Jon Burrison (lead vocals, guitar), Andrew Espantman (drums, background vocals), Henry James Schneekluth (lead guitar, background vocals), and Warren Murrel (bass) have been electrifying audiences all over the world with their soaring guitar leads, rich vocal harmonies, and memorable tunes.
Or, as Don Was puts it, “There aren’t a lot of great rock and roll bands out there playing’ right now. It’s a real thrill to be able to record this kind of music with such a great band.”
Produced by the legendary, multi-GRAMMY Award winner Don Was, the song will be featured on the band’s new EP ‘One Of A Kind,’ released 10 March 2023 via Journeyman Records
