Interview: Mark Daly of Mark Daly and the Ravens-Recorded in January 2023

Rock At Night discovered Mark Daly and the Ravens while reviewing Geoff Tate’s concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida in January. We loved the band’s heavy classic rock sound, reminiscent of Aerosmith or even Alice Cooper (voice-wise). We listed the group as a “Band to Watch” in our current Winter 2023 print issue.
After Daly returned to his hometown of Cork, Ireland, we caught up with him for a quick Zoom interview. Daly discusses how Susan Tate, Geoff Tate’s wife, discovered him a decade ago while playing with the Voodoos in a bar; filming the single “Crying Shame” while in a bog; life during the pandemic; the current EP Nothing to Lose; his teen years in Spain playing in the family pub; and plans for the upcoming year, which include touring and a full album.
