Review: Kelsey Hickman’s single “Novocaine” – Release date March 10, 2023
Kelsey Hickman is no stranger to music. As a 16-year-old, Kelsey was invited to join the country-music band, Still Kick’n. At 17, she had the opportunity to open for Lady A, in front of 25,000 people.
Now Kelsey has released her new single/video, “Novocaine”. From the opening guitar notes, it feels like something special is about to happen….and it does. Kelsey’s powerful voice comes thru in the way that you would expect from someone who is so passionate and excited about their music.
When you hear the confidence and conviction with which she sings about addiction to love, it will bring back the pain that we have all felt at one time or another.
Kelsey has as strong a voice as anyone in music today, so she can rock it out with the best of them. The music is rock solid but stays far enough back to complement the unique vocals of this gifted vocalist.
The video jumps from one interesting scene to another and is entertaining enough. The highlight of the video is when the band is shown, and Kelsey takes control with both her vocals and her manic body movements.
All in all, country meets rock, and it sounds so fine.
