NAZARETH was formed in December 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland, from the remaining members of semi-professional local group The Shadettes (formed in 1961) by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. They took their name from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, They had grown from the pubs, clubs and dance halls of their Scottish homeland into one of the most successful rock bands in the world and has had a string of hits. Songs like “Broken Down Angel” or “Bad Bad Boy” dominated the worldwide charts, as did the mega hits “Dream on”, “This Flight Tonight” or “Love Hurts”. Hard working, genuine and unperturbed by the whims of fashion, this band has not only garnered a huge following but also influenced many great artists: Nazareth songs have been covered by some of rock’s biggest names!
In 2015, Loughborough-born Carl SENTANCE, (formerly vocals on Persian Risk and also Krokus) became the new singer for NAZARETH, after founding member Dan McCafferty had to retire due to illness. All the fans thought their days were numbered but that was without taking into account the firm will of Pete Agnew to find a new way out.
“SURVIVING THE LAW” is the title of NAZARETH’s latest studio opus released in 2022. This is the first time, after covering so many concerts over the years, that a band isn’t even playing a single track from their latest work. Amazing!!! Really strange. Obviously, to please those nostalgic from the good old days, the setlist should rather be based on the titles of the golden days!! It’s a shame because this album features, for the second time, the participation of singer CARL SENTANCE. “Falling In Love”, “Runaway” and “Psycho Skies” are three nuggets he signed, placing them in the pure loud n’proud tradition of the 70’s.
