ROCK AT NIGHT PREMIERE: UK band WEIMAR’s video ‘Hunter’s Moon’

ROCK AT NIGHT VIDEO PREMIERE

ROCK AT NIGHT PREMIERE – WEIMAR’s “Hunter’s Moon” – Worldwide release on July 7, 2023

Weimar continue their run of videos to accompany their acclaimed album, “Dancing On A Volcano”, with the video for “Hunter’s Moon.” Throughout the year Weimar will be releasing videos for all the tracks on the album so the whole album can be experienced in video form as “Dancing On A Volcano: The Movie”.

According to WEIMAR: The first track of ‘Side Two’ of the album, this is a brooding Gothic Jazz tune inspired by classic Film Noir. I viewed this one as like something from the soundtrack to a Hitchcockian psycho-drama with the dark surrealism of David Lynch. The paintings of Edward Hopper were an inspiration here as well.

“Hunter’s Moon” is a slow, brooding Gothic Jazz tune that takes its musical and lyrical inspiration from classic Film Noir. The song features a guest appearance from Finola on saxophone. Naturally, the video for the song pays homage to classics of the Film Noir genre, with traces of Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch in its footage and imagery. 1940s-style detectives follow a mysterious femme fatale and her accomplices into a dark, surreal web of mystery, deception and murder.

Rock At Night Says: “Hunter’s Moon” focuses on the underbelly of society as a femme fatale or perhaps a “lady of the evening.” With it dark, jazzy feel, and haunting bass line, I’m conjuring in my head visions of the films White Heat and the Maltese Falcon. The video totally captures the sinister mood and Film Noir inspiration of the lyrics. Bravo!

The Hunter’s Moon
The glimmer of streetlights
Confused as to what’s within
She made her promise
They say that she lives in sin
Has anyone heard this?
I thought I had noticed
That light in her window
I thought I had noticed
That movement in the shadows
Did anyone see this?
Standing isolated under Hunter’s Moon
The dollar bills, the scent of perfume
Magnolias, the red lamp shone bright
That look on her face as she slipped past the light
Did anyone see this?
I have a vague memory
Of that last night in Venice Beach
I remember her saying
That she was going to be out of reach
Did anyone hear this?
I seem to recall
Another man in the airport lounge
Something in her cases
Something she didn’t want found
Did anyone find this?
Perhaps someone found this?
Standing isolated under Hunter’s Moon
The dollar bills, the scent of perfume
Magnolias, the red lamp shone bright
That look on her face as she slipped past the light
Did anyone see this?
Standing isolated under Hunter’s Moon
The dollar bills, the scent of perfume
Magnolias, the red lamp shone bright
That look on her face as she slipped past the light
Names and faces like fragments of a dream
The whispers in the hallway
The sound of muffled screams
The motel clerk who denied she’d been there
The tracer bullet by a lock of her hair
Did anyone see this?
Has anyone heard this?
Has anyone heard this?
Has anyone heard this?
Has anyone…?
