Review: Hearts – EP1 – September 1, 2023
When you give a simple name to your initial release, it might not attract attention, which means you are relying on the music to do its thing.
That is exactly what Hearts, a UK/Swedish musical combination is counting on when they named their introductory 4-song EP, simply with ‘EP1.’
So what these guys coming from two British (Catfish and The Bottlemen), and two Swedish (Bongo Club and Bottlecap) bands count on?
Well, some sharp-edged pop rock that is anywhere between power pop, Brit-pop and grunge, something that can easily fall apart if you don’t have chops for it or if your songwriting falters at any point. Yet these guys that are currently operating on the Swedish music scene seem to have it all there, doing it all with ease and aplomb such a sound combination would require.
