Review: Dictator Ship – Electric Jihad-Release date: September 29, 2023
It’s no wonder these guys have been often featured in the British ‘Classic Rock’ magazine since their debut album ‘Your Favorites” back in 2020. Now they are back with their second album release ‘Electric Jihad.’
Besides the relentless energy and practically impeccable playing and vocals, this Swedish quartet again show a full force guitar attack and some nifty vocal harmonies when needed.
And yes it does sound like a combination of lot of classic rock styles, from good old-fashioned rock with touches of soul and doo wop to power pop. All the energy, all the time.
No wonder their live act is often described as “a combination of the raging sound of The Sonics, the discontent attitude of MC5 and the pure stamina of Elvis Presley in Las Vegas.”
And all that live energy seems to have been easily transferred into the studio, with Dictator Ship creating an album that can and should be played with open windows and at 11 out of 10 on the loudness scale.
